Mouthguards are oral devices that are worn over the teeth to protect against potential blows to the head and face. We make customized mouthguards for adults and children. We also offer night guards for patients who suffer from nocturnal bruxism.

Mouthguards Recommended for Most Sports

Mouthguards are an essential piece of equipment for athletes of all ages. Dental injuries occur more often than you might think–and in a wider range of sports than  you imagine. While not all sports include contact in the rules, whenever people compete and push themselves, contact happens. This might lead to a penalty, but that won’t save your teeth.

The American Dental Association recommends mouthguards for all of these sports:

  • Acrobatics
  • Basketball
  • Bicycling
  • Boxing
  • Equestrian events
  • Extreme sports
  • Field events
  • Field hockey
  • Football
  • Gymnastics
  • Handball
  • Ice hockey
  • Inline skating
  • Lacrosse
  • Martial arts
  • Racquetball
  • Rugby
  • Shotputting
  • Skateboarding
  • Skiing
  • Sky Diving
  • Soccer
  • Softball
  • Squash
  • Surfing
  • Volleyball
  • Water polo
  • Weight lifting
  • Wrestling

Our mouthguards can be the difference between staying in the game and a serious injury. Mouthguards have been known to prevent fractured teeth, knocked out teeth, oral lacerations and other types of oral injuries.

Custom Mouthguards Are Best

When you are considering a mouthguard for yourself or your child, you have many options to choose from. Stock mouthguards off the shelf are not recommended.

Boil-and-bite mouthguards can provide some level of customization, but unless you customize them properly, they are little better than stock mouthguards. And boil-and-bite mouthguards wear out quickly so they need to be replaced regularly to maintain protection.

At Deluxe Dental, we make our mouth guards with high-quality materials and a custom fit. This improves fit, comfort, and protection. When you wear a mouthguard from Deluxe Dental, you’ll be able to stay focused on your performance on the field, and not your mouthguard.

Accidents Still Happen

Some studies show that in sports without mandatory mouthguard requirements, 96% of oral injuries occur to people who don’t wear mouthguards. But even if you’re wearing a mouthguard, it’s possible to hurt your teeth.

If you experience an emergency dental situation, we are here for you!

Night Guards for Bruxism

We also offer night guards for those who suffer from nocturnal bruxism. Bruxism is a condition in which you involuntarily and unknowingly clench and/or grind your teeth while they sleep. Bruxers bite down much harder during these episodes than you do during normal biting and chewing. This can cause issues like broken teeth, worn-down teeth, headaches, and jaw pain.

Night bruxism might also be linked to sleep apnea. We’ll talk to you about your sleep apnea risk and refer you to a sleep doctor for evaluation.
