What Is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant can be used to replace a tooth (or teeth) that is missing. A titanium metal screw is surgically inserted into the jaw bone, and an oral prosthetic device can be screwed on top to serve as a replacement tooth. The prosthetic device can be a crown, bridge or set of dentures. A dental implant offers exceptional support and stability and gives our patients replacement teeth that look, feel and function just like natural teeth. Another important benefit of dental implants is that they help to prevent the deterioration of the jawbone which commonly occurs with tooth loss.
Dental implants are (usually) anchored in the bone. This gives them the same stability as your natural teeth. And because they're stable and can exert the same pressure, you get the same bite force you had with natural teeth. That means you can bite and chew normally. Plus, laughing and talking aren't a problem with implants the way they can be with dentures.

Meet Dr. Jeremy Walker, DMD
Dr. Walker grew up in the Boise, ID area and knew from a young age that he wanted to become a dentist. After serving a 2 year LDS church mission in Hungary, he married his wife Kimberly and earned a scholarship to attend Boise State University. He completed a dual major BS in Human Biology and Pre-Dental Studies. Kimberly concurrently completed a Masters in Social Work while at Boise State. Dr. Walker and Kimberly both highly value education.
